Useful Resources » Dispensing

We have provision to dispense to patients who live outside the town boundaries. NHS regulations on this matter are very strict and the service can only be offered to those patients who register as dispensing patients when they join the practice or when they move house. For further information, please telephone the surgery and a member of our dispensary staff will be pleased to answer your enquiries.

How Your Pharmacist Can Help

Your pharmacist is there to advise you about medicines and the treatment of common ailments. They will also tell you when it would be in your best interest to see a doctor. In general, you should speak to your pharmacist if you:

  • need help choosing the right medicine
  • are not sure what is causing a problem or what to do about it
  • are unsure whether you need to see a doctor
  • want advice on how to stay healthy

To help your pharmacist help you, stay with the same pharmacy. That way they will get to know you and you will get to know the pharmacist and staff.

Keep the pharmacy telephone number handy so you can get prompt advice and check on opening times.

Always tell your pharmacist if you are taking other medicines.

If you ask for a medicine, you may be asked a few questions to check that a particular medicine is suitable for you. BE SURE TO GIVE ALL THE INFORMATION REQUIRED.

With the specialist advice available from your pharmacist you can treat yourself and thereby save time and minimise inconvenience.
